Las Zahurdillas Viewpoints

Views of Sierra Morena: an unforgettable encounter with history and the natural landscape.

Located to the southwest of the municipality, in the area of las Lagunillas, these restored viewpoints offer a unique window into the history and landscape of Villaharta. Their name pays homage to the old pigsties and public threshing floors that marked the traditional life of the area.

Zahurdillas Bajas

Located in an old public threshing floor, this point was vital for threshing and winnowing cereals. From here you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of Villaharta, its white facades and the Sierra del Enjambradero.

THE ART OF THRESHING

The work consisted of spreading the sheaves in a circle so that the beasts would thresh the grain. Finally, the product was winnowed into the air with pitchforks; the grain fell by its weight while the wind carried away the chaff.

At your feet runs the Cañada Real Soriana, an old transhumance route today traveled by pilgrims of the Mozarabic Camino de Santiago. In the background, the passes of La Silleta and Ginés remind us of the magical festival of La Candelaria.

Zahurdillas Altas

A place linked to family gatherings and typical slaughter snacks, where children would go up to enjoy the famous roasted “mocarra”.

NATURAL HERITAGE

Enclave surrounded by Mediterranean forest with holm oaks and cork oaks. It is the ideal starting point to explore the trails that lead to the sour water springs and the ruins of the old spa.

From this height, the silence of Sierra Morena and the biodiversity of the environment offer an experience of absolute disconnection, ideal for bird watching and nature photography.
