Fuente Agria Spa

Fuente La Lastrilla

One of the purest and wildest springs in the Fuente Agria hydrogeological system. A hidden spring in the Mediterranean scrubland where ferruginous water flows directly from the crack in the rock.

The Hidden Face of the Spa

The Hidden Face of the Spa

The Fuente de La Lastrilla is the best-kept secret of the Fuente Agria complex. In fact, unlike its main “sisters”, it is the only one that is not located in the municipality of Villaharta, but in Espiel. To access it, starting from the old N-432, you must enter a beautiful path parallel to the stream.

According to historical records from the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME), La Lastrilla is a secondary spring. This means it was never part of the official exploitation of the spa, nor did it have pavilions built around it; its waters were only known and used by local inhabitants, preserving its pristine state.

Nature and Spring

Nature and Spring

After walking the path surrounded by Mediterranean scrub, the visitor encounters a rocky area. There, a striking orange color on the right side of the riverbed reveals the presence of the spring. The iron-rich water emerges directly from a small crack in the rock (non-carbonate detrital and metamorphic rocks) and is slightly retained by a wall before falling through a small metal spout into the stream.

Although it was never chemically analyzed individually, experts confirm that it originates from the same deep system and the same geological fractures as Fuente Agria. Therefore, it shares its precious properties: it is carbonic (with natural CO₂), ferruginous, and acidic water, which flows with a very low but continuous yield, never running dry.
